OFSWCD Legislative Issues

Keeping Ohio ’s Land Productive and Water Clean is critical to our state’s economy and to the quality of life for Ohio ’s citizens.  The Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCDs), which represents and serves our state’s eighty-eight county soil & water conservation districts (SWCDs), has played a key role in this endeavor ever since it’s creation in 1941.

With continued focus in Congress and the Ohio General Assembly on both our Nation’s and Ohio’s economy, food resources, energy opportunities, education, and the environment – the OFSWCD must ensure that our voice is heard on important legislative issues and regulatory matters.  Our success stories are numerous – however, financial challenges have impacted our ability to serve local land users, government agencies, and others who are interested in sustaining Ohio ’s conservation resources for future generations.

The challenge lies in establishing conservation programs as a priority in a climate of competing needs and limited resources.  However, our impact is far reaching – and our story must be told!  So your help is needed to educate lawmakers, local officials, neighbors, friends and others on the importance of conservation programs to our state’s vitality – and our daily living.  Remember – “Conservation is Life!”
